Dirty Vegas is back! And oh how we've missed them. After 7 years of being out of the studio, the trio is back with their new album "Electric Love". Its been a long time since "Days Go By" but they still havent lost their touch. With its hot beats and cool vocals, this album is essential for the warm summer nights of non-stop debauchery. DFA has really managed to keep turning great acts out like clockwork. Holy Ghost! not only hails from New York City but, its apart of the cities top Indie labels. Holy Ghost! is a DJ duo from Brooklyn, NY, formed by Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser of the now-defunct group Automato. I recently had the chance of seeing them in Austin this past weekend and it was amazing. Not only was the show great but they had back up vocals by Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem, The Juan Maclean, Shit Robot). She is also in the "I Will Come Back" below. It was a DFA dance party and I was all about it. Their DJ set at the after party really topped off the night! Their self-titled dropped two weeks ago and I suggest you do yourself a favor and go out and buy it. Here is their video for "I Will Come Back" and a remix of their first single "Static On the Wire". There is something about a synth-rock band that really gets my blood moving. Put good looking boys and indie dance together and you have the best combination for a great time. Whether it be Delphic, Cut Copy, Monarchy, or Pony Pony Run Run, you cant go wrong with hearing a cute boys voice and melodic synths in the background. Fenech-Soler is no different from this. This British band has it going on! Their debut album is nothing short of amazing and really can get your feet moving. It isnt available in America yet, but thats nothing that Google cant fix =). It was like meant to be...I happen to come across Island9 through beatport.com while listening to the top 25 upcoming artist you must listen to and I knew I had to contact them ASAP! While listening to their sample releases off their album "It's Been Said Before" I found myself extremely intrigued especially in a track called "Freak Of The Weak"..I couldn't stop listening to that track..When listened to it reminds me of Dr. Jekyll meets mr. Hyde meeting the underground 80s dance parties...Island9's brief bio is as follows:

It began in the day when electronica, dance music, raves, and clubbing were sweeping the States with such force you thought it was the second coming of Christ. Robots In Disguise have always been a personal favorite of mine and it had been quite some time I kept up to date with these british girls. There happen to be many varieties of what is "Disco House" and my good friend who calls himself "Moonchild" happens to do it quite oh so well....my little ears feel like a child in a candy shop whenever these tracks are played. What I love the most about these tracks are that not only are they fantastic, but they don't drag or are hard on the ears...it's just right. Kinda like the story of Goldie locks and the 7 dwarfs..oops i mean bears...Goldie locks and the 3 bears...anyhoo I highly recommend you check these tracks hitting the dance floors out from the "land down unda'". In other news, Trash Yourself just wrapped up two new originals, "Down to the Disco" with Treasure Fingers and "Get Down", with Richard Vission, as well as just finished a remix for Kids at the Bar's "Your Body on Me" which will drop soon. TY is also starting a party with VHS or BETA next month called xx-xy. It's going to be a monthly Saturday located at Public Assembly in Brooklyn, New York. The kick off is on May 29th. I am officially hooked on this Jpop!..It's amazing, it's fantastical, it's IMMI. It had been some time that I had stumbled upon her music by accident a few years ago...then just recently I decided to youtube her...and WOW. I was completely impressed with this new transformation of hers. This new stuff if really catchy, really glam, really electro / rock/ club / pop/ edgy type of stuff. Proposition 1: “The issuance of $35,000,000 tax bonds for park improvements.”
The centerpiece of these so-called “park improvements” is bulldozing the McAllen Botanical Park and Nature Center to build a tennis complex. This project would destroy and pave over the last remaining old-growth native forest left within the city limits. This park has valuble dense native brush habitat that harbors a great diversity of the valley's unique nature (including the protected indigo snake). It is also a critical nesting ground for a wide variety of birds, Resting grounds for migratory birds, and has great potential to be a place where the community can go to learn about the wonders of nature and enjoy a pristine natural environment like no other in the city.

There is plenty of cleared land for a tennis complex in McAllen, and some of it is already owned by the city. But once our forest is cleared, it is gone for EVER!

Proposition 2: “The sale of Westside Park land.”
Westside Park is the second-largest park in McAllen, and it boasts a softball complex, playgrounds, mature shade trees, and wetland ponds. Passage of proposition 2 would allow the city to sell off the park for retail development.
Taken together, Westside Park and the Botanical Garden comprise the largest existing green space in McAllen. Well-maintained and well-managed, they could become a green gem in the heart of the city, improving residents’ quality of life, drawing visitors, and raising surrounding property values.
We need more parks in McAllen. But in this bond election we are being asked to sacrifice, needlessly, the greenest acres of our city. McAllen citizens should vote NO on both bond proposals and tell the City Commission that McAllen deserves both sports facilities and nature parks, not one at the expense of the other.

So we all know it's been sometime that Crystal Castles hasn't released anything new... until just a few days ago. They plan on releasing their 2nd self titled album later this year in August 2010.
